Leagoo S9 review

At the Mobile World Conference Leagoo released more details about its upcoming Leagoo S9 smartphone, proudly carrying the slogan 'World's First Android Notch Display Smartphone'.

The Leagoo S9 was tagged the “first ever Android iPhone X” and launched alongside the Power 5 at the 2018 Mobile World Congress. Going with that tag, the phone is clearly an iPhone X clone with the trending top-notch design.

The phones were unveiled in a joint partnership with Tottenham Hotspur. The flagship also sports the iPhone X-Like dual rear camera with the dual-LED flash in the middle. 

DESIGN

A beautiful device that glows when in contact with light or direct sunlight, we have to give to Leagoo though. The company are getting better at designing their smartphones and this masterpiece says it all.

Sporting a combination of Plastic meets Metal in a state of the art design. The iPhone X-like vertical dual shooters also add to the fun going on in the back. The fingerprint scanner is in its usual position, as the phone is available in Black, Gold and Blue colours.

DISPLAY

The top-notch is heavenly on this smartphone and fits it perfectly, the bezel-less display was spot on. Although, I’m not a huge fan of the bottom bezel with the Leagoo logo on top, such a distraction.

Nevertheless, the 5.85-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is peng. Boasting of 720 x 1512 pixels in resolution and 286 pixels per inch density. The screen has GFF full lamination technology as well, with 178° viewing angle. Protecting the screen is a Dragontrail Glass which offers scratch and dust resistant.

S9 is almost entirely screen in the front with up to  90% screen to body ratio it fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and deliver rich colors, vivid image and true-to-life immersive effects.

HARDWARE and SOFTWARE

Running the race here is the MediaTek MT6750 chipset with an 8-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The octa-cores of processor reaches a clock speed of 1.5 GHz, with 28nm process technology. In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processor is in charge with 2-cores and clocks at 520 MHz.

Multitask through your favourite apps with the 4GB RAM space which reaches a memory speed of 667 MHz. For storage, a disappointing 32GB storage space is ready to accommodate all your files. But you can always upgrade up to 128GB with a memory card anytime you want. The S9 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

CAMERA

The dual rear 13MP + 2MP Sony camera is pretty solid, coming with f/2.0 aperture and capture 4K resolution images with ease. Even though it can’t be compared to the iPhone X camera, it sure comes close a bit. The 13MP shooter has a 5P lens, while the 2MP has a 3P lens. Both have a 78° wide-angle lens, 1.133um pixel size and comes with a dual-LED flash. For selfies, the 8MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture, 4P lens, OmniVision PureCel Sensor and a front flash.

With leagoo patented image processing algorithm and ultra HD shooting technology, the s9 shoots multiple frames in quick succession and combined them into one 65MP shot with phenomenal definition and details. Even you enlarged the photo 23 times, it is clear with the original HD quality.

The Leagoo S9 is powered by a Non-Removable Li-Po 3000mAh battery with fast charging technology.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Leagoo S9 will be available for about $149 to $199 from this month (May 2018), that’s about (N53,000 – N60,000), it's now available for free order in Bang good  online store.
